ICONTEC participates in ISO/CASCO ICONTEC is the national standard body of Colombia, member of ISO and IQNet partner since 1998. In the activities of conformity assessment, ICONTEC provides product certification, certification of management systems, certification of personnel and inspection. Within the broad options for participation in committees of ISO, ICONTEC has involved experts in the ISO/CASCO committee, both in its plenary meetings and in working groups (WG) 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 since 1997 Since the year 2000, ICONTEC established a mirror committee of CASCO on standardization, which includes representatives of the national accreditation body SIC, certification bodies, inspection bodies, laboratories, industry and trade associations and companies. The main focus of this committee is the adoption as national standards (NTC) of the standards and guides approved by the committee ISO /CASCO and study, make comments and propose the vote of the documents generated by ISO/CASCO for revision or approval of standards and guides on conformity assessment. ICONTEC has led the use of requirements and best practices and guidelines of the standards and guides of ISO/CASCO in Colombia so that the industry and market have conformity assessment services coming from bodies, with competence, credibility and independence. For the revision of ISO / IEC guide 53 on the use of quality management system in product certification, ICONTEC provided the leadership of WG 26, from September 2001 until publication of the revised guide at the beginning of 2005. As conformity assessment body ICONTEC applies standards and guides of the CASCO tool box, first to offer its services in conformity assessment in line with international requirements for accreditation and in the design and updating of these services using Guides as reference.
