WINE CREATOR ISO 22000:2005 CERTIFIED
Where do art and the food safety management system according to the ISO 22000:2005 standard meet? At the Movia estate in Goriška Brda in Slovenia, where the eighth generation of the Kristancic family continues the tradition of winemaking. In December 2006, SIQ granted its first ISO 22000:2005 certificate to Mr Aleš Kristancic of the Movia estate. The wines produced at the Movia estate rank among the top quality wines worldwide. The achieved quality is the result of good practice developed on the basis of the tradition and experience of many years, as well as unique understanding of a wine making process that differs in many aspects from the recognized and established ones. But the consequences of technical development are felt in the viniculture as well. In former times, the production of good quality wines depended on the appropriate level of attention given to cleanliness and on the experience of the winemaker. Today, when more and more materials are used in winemaking processes, when the channels of distribution (of input materials and end products) are spreading with globalisation and customers demand high quality and safe products, the awareness of the importance of the quality and safety of products in all production phases must be as high as never before. This can be achieved by well-established and comprehensive quality and safety management systems. And Mr Kristancic has managed to find in the ISO 22000:2005 standard the opportunity to include in the system specific solutions that are results of the good practice of many years. The Movia estate wines are marketed only to the most eminent restaurants worldwide. The communication with the customers, conducted by Mr Kristancic himself, is intense and focused on the awareness of the wine drinking culture. He has such a profound sense of wines that at the symposium in Ronda, Málaga, Spain, a group of the greatest wine connoisseurs, writers and critiques proclaimed him one of the twelve most influential wine creators worldwide.
