MSZT’s new service
      Certification of hospitals

MSZT certified the Town Hospital and Out-patient Clinic in Town Nagyatád, Hungary on 26 - 27 February 2003 according to Hospital Care Standards issued by the Ministry of Health. It was the first health institution certified by MSZT in Hungary according to these standards. The Town Hospital and Out-patient Clinic that has 684 employees was assessed by three auditors. The certificate was handed over at a celebration.


Hospital Health Care Standards

The Hungarian Ministry of Health published the Manual of Hospital Health Care Standards in its Official Health Gazette in November 2001. The publication of the Manual gave new possibilities to develop the quality of in-patient care in hospitals and to extend the services of certification bodies for health institutions.
The Hospital Health Care Standard is an expectation for the health service (in-patient care), a target that shall be fulfilled in order to reach the required quality (conformity to standard criteria).

The Manual
  • interprets the standards
  • defines the criteria of assessment
  • determines the standards to be documented in the procedures
  • refers to health laws, rules and regulations
  • defines the fields to be assessed
  • describes the definitions used
The standards create 2 groups

Standards relating directly to the health service
  • reception and discharge of patients
  • examination
  • health service as parts of health care procedure, moreover rights of the patients, information of the patients during the health service
Organising, managing standards that deal with
  • improvement of the quality
  • management, direction
  • management of human resource
  • safety of buildings, equipment
The audit is based on
  • the Manual of Hospital Care Standards
  • laws, rules and regulations and standards regarding health servicing institutions
The standards shall be fulfilled in legal environment. The assessment deviates from the assessment of other management systems to a certain extent. Auditing according to Health Care Standards and auditing of Quality Management System according to ISO 9001:2000 can be integrated. The two systems supplement and strengthen each other.
